Crochet baby skirt pattern :
- First you need to measure the waist circumference of your baby/child, or you can simply check this size chart here :
Size | Waist (inch) | Waist (cm) |
0 – 3 Months | 16.125 – 17.375″ | 41 – 44 cm |
3 – 6 Months | 17.375 – 18.5″ | 44 – 47 cm |
6 – 9 Months | 18.5 – 19″ | 47 – 48 cm |
9 – 12 Months | 19 – 19.5″ | 48 – 49 cm |
12 – 18 Months | 19.5 – 20.25″ | 49 – 51 cm |
18 – 24 Months | 20.25 – 20.5″ | 51 – 52 cm |
- Then will work the ribbing that is = waist – 5 to 7 cm so it keeps the elastic effect, and won’t be loose, it will also give more definition to the skirt’s design.
- with the 3.5 mm hook, start with 11 ch, sc in the second ch from the hook, and in the next sts.
- 1st Row: sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc on next 9ch. (10st)
- 2nd Row: ch1, turn, blsc in the 2nd ch from hook, blsc on next 9ch. (10st)
- 3rd Row: repeat row 2 until reach length of 44cm, fasten off.
** Now you have rectangular strip with length 44cm we need to link them with sl st.
Ch1, fold 2 sides, *insert hook on the back loop of the first side stitch and on the both 2 loops on the second side*, do sl st, repeat from *to* for more 9 times.
Working around the waist part:
1st Round: ch1, hdc on the same st, hdc in each row of the waist part, now you get (84hdc), sl st in the first hdc of the round.
– Divide this number by 6 or (7); you get 14 or (12) stitches, put marker on each 14 or (12) sts to make volume for the skirt.
– On each marker place we will do 3hdc on the same st for (2nd & 3rd & 4th round) and do 2hdc on the same st for (5th round).
2nd Round: ch1, change hook to 4.5mm, hdc on the same st, hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 3hdc on the same st (put marker on the middle st), hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 3hdc on the same st (put marker on the middle st), repeat across the round, sl st on the first hdc.
3rd Round: ch1, hdc on the same st, hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 3hdc on the same st (put marker on the middle st), hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 3hdc on the same st (put marker on the middle st), repeat across the round, sl st on the first hdc.
4th Round: repeat row 3.
5th Round: ch1, hdc on the same st, hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 2hdc on the same st, hdc on each st until reach the first marker place, make 2hdc on the same st, repeat across the round, sl st on the first hdc.
6th Round: ch1, hdc on the same st, hdc on each st across the round, sl st on the first hdc.
7th Round: repeat round 6 until reach length of 22cm for total skirt, fasten off.
Shoulders :
Start with ch5 + ch1 (as height), turn.
- 1st Row: sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc on next 4ch. (5st)
- 2nd Row: ch1, turn, blsc in the 2nd ch from hook, blsc on next 4ch. (5st)
- 3rd Row: repeat row 2 until reach length of 43cm, fasten off.
* Make another strip.
Finishing :
Weave in all ends.
How to Attach 2 strips with the skirt:
∙ We need to sew the 2 strips on the skirt following this step;
∙ To make crisscross on the back you need to sew the first side of the first strip on the right front and the second side on the left back.
∙ And sew the first side of the first strip on the left front and the second side on the right back.
