Today i will share with you a crochet coat for little girls, with easy tutorial to follow, the original pattern was made by Majovel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV14X4G2Tuw), but with some modifications so we can get another version of this beautiful coat.
Difficulty level
Easy to intermediate.
Materials
Yarn : Any #4 worsted weight yarn;
- A: White;
- B: Pink;
- C: Purple.
Hooks :
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- 2.5mm crochet hook
Size Informations :
This size fits 4 years old child (you can find different size guide [back to video at 1:00])
Abbreviations :
This pattern is written using standard US crochet terminology.
- Ch = Chain(s)
- St(s) = Stitch (es)
- Sl St = Slip Stitch
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Dc = Double Crochet
Crochet Coat for 4 years girl
With A, using 3.5 mm crochet hook,
- Row 1: ch74, ch3 (as first dc), dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in the next 10 chains, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next chain, dc in the next 15 chains, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next chain, dc in the next 15 chains, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next chain, dc in the next 15 chains, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next chain, dc in the last 12 chains.
- Row 2: ch3, turn, dc in the next 2st, ch2, skip next 2st (button hole), dc in the next 7st, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 16st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 16st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 16st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the last 13st.
- Row 3: ch3, turn, dc in the next 13st, (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 18st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 18st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next 18st (until reach the corner), (dc, ch1, dc) in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next st until reach the ch-2 space [back to video at 8:14], 2dc into the space, dc in the last 3st.
- Row 4 – 16: repeat the same sequence until reach the desired length (or until reach 6.6″=17cm)
Keep in mind that you need to repeat button hole step in rows 8 and 15.
Now we will join front & back together and work on the body of the crochet coat.
- Row 17: ch3, turn, dc in the next st (until reach the next corner), dc in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next ch-1 space (skip sleeve part) [back to video at 9:52], dc in the next st (until reach the next corner), dc in the next ch-1 space, dc in the next ch-1 space, (skip sleeve part) [back to video at 10:15], dc in the next st until the end.
Now we will work on the skirt.
- Row 18: ch3, turn, dc in the next 12st, 5dc in the next st, dc in the next 9st, 5dc in the next st, repeat * across the row until reach the last 13st, dc in the last 13st.
- Row 19: ch3, turn, dc in the next 12st until reach the 5dc from previous row [back to video at 13:55], 2dc in the next 5st, dc in the next st until reach the next 5dc, 2dc in the next 5st, repeat across the row until reach the last 13st, dc in the last 13st.
- Row 20: ch3, turn, dc in the next st across the row.
- Row 21 – 33: repeat previous row.
- Row 34 – 39: with B, repeat previous row.
- Row 40 – 43: with C, repeat previous row (until reach 12″=30cm), fasten off, weave in all ends.
Don’t forget to make a button hole every 7 rows.
Sleeves :
- Start from under the arm point [back to video at 16:35].
- Row 17: with A, ch3, turn, dc in the next st across the round, sl st to the 3rd ch of ch3 at the beginning of the round.
- Row 18: turn the piece, ch3, dc in the next st across the round, sl st to the 3rd ch of ch3 at the beginning of the round.
- Row 19 – 26: repeat previous row.
- Row 27 – 32: with B, repeat previous row.
- Row 33 – 36: with C, repeat previous row (until reach 10″=24cm), fasten off, weave in all ends.
- Repeat for the second sleeve.
Hood:
Steps to make the hood of the crochet coat :
- Working across the first row of the coat body, skip 7st. [back to video at 19:11].
- Row 1: with A, ch3, 2dc in the next st, dc in the next 2st, 2dc in the next st, dc in the next 2st, repeat * across the row until reach the last 7st, skip last 7st.
- Row 2: ch3, dc in the next st across the row.
- Row 3 – 18: repeat previous row (until reach 8.6″=22cm).
- Fold in half and using tapestry needle, sew 2 ends together [back to video at 21:35], fasten off, weave in all ends.
Now insert the hook in the first st of the hood [back to video at 22:35] and start the next steps :
- Row 1: ch3, dc across the row.
- Row 2 – 5: repeat previous row, sew the added rows to the hood from outside [back to video at 24:33].
Ears:
- Row 1: with B, magic ring, ch3 (doesn’t count as first st) into the ring, 9dc into the ring, pull beginning tail gently to close ring. [9st]
- Row 2: ch3 (doesn’t count as first st), turn, 2dc in the same st, 2dc in the next st across. [18st]
- Row 3: ch3 (doesn’t count as first st), turn, dc in the same st, dc in the next st across. [18st]
- Repeat previous steps with B, and 2 times with C.
Put one piece of B & one piece of C, and join them together with A.
- Round 1: with A, ch1, sc across the 2 pieces to join, fasten off, repeat for the second ear.
- Sew 2 ears to the hood by skipping 6 rows from the joining point of the hood. back to video

Sides of the coat:
- Work across the sides of the coat [back to video at 30:38], ch3, 2dc in the same st, skip next st, sl st in the next st, skip next st, (ch3, 2dc) in the next st, skip next st, sl st in the next st, skip next st, (ch3, 2dc) in the next st, repeat * across the base & sides of the coat.
Bow:
Using 2.5mm hook, With C,
- Row 1: ch33, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc across the remaining chains.
- Row 2: ch3 (doesn’t count as first dc), turn, dc in the same st, dc across the row.
- Row 3 – 8: repeat previous row, fasten off.
- Fold the piece 2 times from the center and sew across the piece [back to video at 32:30], fasten off.
- Sew the bow to the back of the coat [back to video at 33:47].
- Sew the button to the side of the coat.
- Fasten off, weave in all ends.
